Thank you for expressing an interest in the school, you'll be glad you did! I established the school in the fall of 1982. It was the first Montessori School in Hunterdon County. The school is located in Flemington, New Jersey, which is a growing community. We are near routes 202, 31, and 12, which provide easy access for commuting parents.
We have developed a successful child friendly curriculum by blending what you find in a Montessori school, with a good pre-school experience. Each child experiences the Montessori material and method of teaching. In addition, the children enjoy play times in a play room filled with books, blocks, musical instruments, toys, puzzles, and games. The children have free art times, planned art projects, circle and story times. In addition, we have included an academic class time where children become accustomed to following verbal instructions and working along with their class on worksheets. No one falls through the cracks here. What is presented in their academic class is reinforced during their Montessori work time. The child's day is a nice balance of academics, socialization, and pretend play. Montessori schools are known for excellence in educating children through the use of Montessori learning materials. Unfortunately, most Montessori schools do not provide a balance of both academic and pretend play, like we do. We have a very low teacher-child ratio and affordable tuition rates. Our competent, caring and certified experienced staff is dedicated to making your child's day a great experience. This school is a wonderful alternative to the day-care scene. Here, your child is special. Here are some comments from our school parents: "Before my child transferred to The Flemington Montessori School, she attended a large commercial franchise day care center. She is now thriving with all the one-on-one personal attention she receives. I definitely prefer her to be 1 of 28 each day, instead of 1 of 128!" -SK "My children used to attend a traditional Montessori School. I liked the Montessori method and materials, but my boys never wanted to go to school. They said it wasn't fun. Now they like going to school. I believe it is because Melanie has blended Montessori with other activities." -LM "When my son began his experience at your school this year it was quite a change from the day care center he attended for three years. We are very pleased with his progress and are grateful to you and your staff for the dedication and special kind of caring. The patience and the unique style of teaching has made a significant difference. If it were not for your staff, I believe he would not be a candidate for Kindergarten. We feel that your academic program is unsurpassed. What more could a parent want for their child - quality academic studies and a sincere caring for the students." - L&JB. "This year my son's class instructor was a N.J. state certified teacher. The other activities were supervised by a group teacher. In his former school, the certified teacher planned things but the group teacher implemented the lesson. I thought this was O.K., until I saw the difference it made in the quality of the learning environment, as well as the behavior of the class." -GM
